“W32.Downadup.B” virus instructions

We have received an updated removal tool from Symantec. In order for this routine to be downloaded to your computer, you must shut down (power off) your computer and restart it. When you turn on your computer and login the screen below will appear. (Please be patient, this may take a few minutes)

Click “I Accept” and the following screen will appear

Click “Start”

If a virus was not detected
Once the software has finished running the following screen will appear if the program did not find the virus on your machine.

Click “OK”

The following screen will appear

Click “No”
If the “Yes” is inadvertently selected, and the following screen appears, please close the window.

The process is complete.

If a virus was detected
If a virus was detected on the computer a screen will appear indicating what procedures were performed. Be sure and read this carefully.

Click “OK”

Click “No”

If the “Yes” is inadvertently selected, and the following screen appears, please close the window.

The machine must reboot to allow all files to be cleaned. If you have any programs open please close before clicking OK because the system will automatically reboot.

Click “OK”
Once the system reboots the process is complete.
